Two investigations failed to find evidence of the CIA useing Romanian airports for "rendition.” The Romanian plea from the human rights commissioner for the Council of Europe that countries that have hosted secret CIA prisons come clean that incudes Romania, Poland and Lithuania. These three counties were among the countries that hosted "black sites" for "enhanced interrogation" during the "war on terror." CIA officials refused to discuss details and denied violating any laws after acknowledged the rendition program. Their efforts to challenge the agency and get details about it in U.S. courts have not been easy. The Polish have opened up a new secret prison in Romania in 2003 and existed for more than two years, Lithuania also hosted two sites. Man jailed over Real IRA weapons smuggling bid

Michael Campbell, a 39 year old from County Louth in the Republic of Ireland, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. In January 2008, he was arrested in Vilnius. He had been secretly recorded talking about planting bombs in London, this was used as evidence in his court case. In addition he was secretly filmed test-firing weapons in the Lithuanian countryside.Dening these acusations, Campbell was found guilty supporting a terrorist group, illegal possession of weapons and attempted smuggling. The British government, the Lithuanian government and the Irish government work together to catch Michael Campbell. Northern Ireland Secretary of State Owen Paterson issued a statement saying it was "another excellent example of what can come from the high levels of cooperation between countries across Europe and beyond in combating terrorism."
